The Grand Canyon Youth has been providing kids with a chance to explore the rivers and canyons for almost 20 years. Now they are finally able to expand their scope to the Verde Valley. They are partnering with a local group to be able to offer a new experience with youth. The children not only get a chance to paddle their way down the Verde, but they also learn the story of the historical landmark. This is a great opportunity for the youth to get to explore and learn about nature and the waterways.
- A non-profit group in Arizona is known for it’s wilderness river trips and they are expanding their program to include day trips for the local elementary kids.
- This group offers a way for the students to be exposed to science and archaeology on these trips.
- These students also learn about the local history of the land and more about the land itself over the course of their wilderness trip.
“The VRI aims to connect people and resources to promote a healthy, flowing Verde River, and has been instrumental in developing this program.”
