The Grand Canyon is chock full of natural wonder, but also history. Many generations of indigenous tribes lived on or around the Grand Canyon before western expansion hit. Virtually, every village or community living within the Canyon is long gone, except for one.
The village of Supai still exists and is the only town inside the Grand Canyon. The community is located deep inside a 3,000-foot-deep hole. The area is so remote that it is the only place in the United States that receives mail deliveries by mule. Backpackers who are willing to face the challenge of descending to the village via hiking or pack mule are welcomed.
