If you’re 18 or older, and interested in rafting the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park next year, now’s the time to submit your noncommercial river trip permit application to the National Park Service. 463 permits for 12 through 25 day trips will be granted through the weighted lottery’s website. The cut off date for applications is March 12, 2019 at noon MST. Updates about the lottery will be available via email and news release. Additional lotteries will be held in the event of rescheduled trips.
- The permits are all 463 in total and they will be available for 12-25 day river trips. Applications can be done online by eligible applicants.
- In February of every year a main lottery is organized in order to assign launch dates for the river trips that will be occurring the next year.
- Notifications about the main lottery that are held are made public through email notifications and news releases and there are also subsidiary lotteries for canceled river trips.
